We are developing a novel home energy management system based on combination of power and communications home network.
It aims to analyze user's behavior by power-sensing network and
provide various life-support services that manage power and electric
appliances according to the user’s behavior and his/her taste.
This paper describes an electoric appliance recognition method from
power-sensing data measured by ‘SmartTap’ (intelligent outlet with
voltage/current sensor) to combine legacy appliances (which have no
ability for the communications network) with the home-network.
Furthermore, we show a prototype system of home energy management system and
examples of services based on appliance recognition. |
