Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) It is noted that OTA (Over-The-Air) performance of mobile terminals employing multi-antennas for a diversity and MIMO must be evaluated based on the transmission performance which reflects antenna properties of the radiation efficiency, antenna gain, and spatial correlation. In this report, we investigate a simple configurable multi-antenna measurement system that enables us to evaluate the angular dependency for OTA transmission performance under the assumption that the power angular distribution around the mobile terminal is non-uniform. We investigate the capability of approximation models comprising plane waves based on the simulation in order to handle the power angular distribution around the mobile terminal as a cluster model, and we clarify a four-wave model or a five-wave model is required for an antennas under test which have a null in the radiation pattern. We also present the availability of the multi-antenna measurement system constructed in an anechoic chamber by comparing the measured results of the received power, spatial correlation, and throughput with the simulated results for the reference antennas and notebook PC models equipped with a MIMO device.
