Reflection improvement of a center-feed post-wall waveguide circuit of T-junctions in a parallel-plate slot array antenna and sidelobe suppression by reduction of no slot area

(in English) A center-feed waveguide consisting of T-junctions has been proposed to reduce the no-slot area of a post-wall waveguide center-fed parallel plate slot array for suppressing the sidelobes in the E-plane. This waveguide has been suffering from reflection in the conventional design based on the method of moments replacing the post-walls with solid-walls. We propose a novel design procedure for the T-junctions to suppress the reflection by including the shape of the posts in HFSS analysis. The reflection of the antenna designed by this method is improved by more than 10 dB in comparison with that of the conventional design antenna over 1 GHz bandwidth around the design frequency. The peak of the measured gain is 33.4 dBi. The efficiency is 61.0 % for the aperture size including the no-slot area. The sidelobe suppression in the E-plane by using 8.3 dB amplitude tapered slot excitation is also presented.
