Psychological and Physiological Reactions to the Rate of News Voice

(in English) We first conducted a subjective test to evaluate the easy-to-hear of the rate-converted TV news voice for the elderly and young people. Then the influence of news voice playback speed on human feelings was studied using the SD method and the principal component analysis method. Consequently, a psychological factor corresponding to “leisurely” or "calmness" were extracted at 0.6 times the speed of ordinary news voice playback speed, while a factor corresponding to “restless” or "fatigue" were extracted at 1.5 times the ordinary speed. Under the same conditions, changes in cerebral blood flow in the frontal lobe of the cerebral cortex were measured using an optical topography (fNIRS) system. The results clarified the influence of news voice playback speed on cerebral blood flow.
