A proposal for session preservation for mobile node in case of mobility management node change
Jun Hirano (Panasonic) IN2008-143
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In case that a mobile node(MN) move around various network environment, it may happen the case that changing a home agent(HA) which is managing a home network of the MN's mobility starting point. In this situation, packets destined to MN wouldn't be routed and sessions between correspondent nodes(CN) and MN would be interrupted because the MN's address that HA is managing and CN is referring was changed. For this situation, MN needs to maintain the old address. But it would cause traffic congestion when many of the signaling for location registration and route optimization are processed simultaneously after handover.
We previously proposed a method that reducing messages between MN and access router for route optimization. This paper describes a new proposal that can keep sessions avoiding to increase messages by applying previous proposal to MN and HA, sharing information for location registration and route optimization.
