Analysis of Route Aggregation for Energy Efficient Communication in the Internet

(in English) With the explosive growth of the Internet traffic, the amount of electricity consumed by networking devices, such as routers and switches, is now rapidly increasing. Therefore, we need some power-saving scheme for energy efficient networking. So far, some studies have proposed sleep control or adaptive control of the bandwidth of Network Interface Cards (NICs) depending on the arrival traffic load and have shown their effectiveness for power-saving of the network devices. However, since a network is constructed by a lot of devices, it can be energy efficient to select forwarding path among multiple paths in the network instead of always selecting the minimum cost path between senders and receivers depending on the amount of traffic load.
