Stream flows Dynamic Class Assignment (DCA) has been proposed for reducing negative interactions between multimedia streaming application traffic and the other conventional data application traffic. To obtain traffic information on the bottleneck node, DCA requires all Core Node to add new functions for advertising information. However, additional functions of all Core Node increase loads of Core Nodes, and increase costs when DCA is applied to large-scale real networks. Therefore, in this paper, we introduce a new threshold that we termed Virtual Bandwidth, and propose an expansion of DCA method by using the Virtual Bandwidth. This expansion method can be operated by the cooperation of Edge Node only, and does not require additional functions to Core Node. We investigated an effective updating method of the Virtual Bandwidth by computer simulation. Then, we evaluated the effectiveness of our method by comparison with conventional DCA method. |
