A Study on Cooperative Communication Using Three Time Slots with Interference Canceller

(in English) Cooperative communication which realizes space diversity has been attracting attention in recent years. In cooperative communication, two mobile stations (MSs) build cooperative relationships. The signal transmitted from each MS using orthogonal channel is received at the cooperative MS and base station (BS). Then, the cooperative MS transmits the received signal to BS. As a result, BS can receive the desired signal propagated thorough the different channels, and spatial diversity gain can be obtained. Since two symbols are sent using four time slots in cooperative communication in time division multiple access (TDMA), frequency efficiency reduces compared to that of single antenna transmission, i.e., without cooperation. Cooperative communication using three time slots has been proposed to mitigate the frequency efficiency degradation in the literature. To reduce the adverse effect of multi-access interference (MAI) that occurs in the time slot in which two MSs transmit the signals, distributed space time code has been used at the time slot. In this paper, we propose a cooperative communication system using three time slots using iterative canceller at BS. The transmission performance of the proposed method is compared with the cooperative communication using four time slots by computer simulation.
