Optimization of Polymeric Saturable-absorber Mirror for Passive Q-switching of Laser-diode-pumped Nd3+:YVO4 Microchip Laser

(in English) Using dye-functionalized polymer materials, we have developed a polymeric saturable-absorber mirror (PSAM) doped with a saturable dye. The output coupler PSAM can work as a passive Q-switch of a laser-diode-pumped Nd3+:YVO4 microchip laser. We describe the design guideline of a PSAM to obtain a higher peak power with a shorter pulse width. This guideline is based on the analysis by rate equations. According to it, we could attain a pulse shorter than sub-nanosecond with a peak power higher than 1kW.
