A novel method is proposed to realize high-speed distributed sensing based on Brillouin optical correlation domain analysis by continuously sweeping the sensing position along the fiber under test and recording the corresponding distributed Brillouin interaction at each pump-probe frequency offset. It is found that the period of the sensing position sweeping should be larger than the multiplication of the total sensing number and the data update time or the integral time constant of the lock-in detection in signal processing. The ramp sweep of the pump-probe frequency offset, the sensing position sweeping and the data acquisition are synchronized to enable 5 Hz distributed sensing with ~53 m measurement range and ~5 cm spatial resolution. |
