Experimental Demonstration of Single-Star-Type New-Generation Optical Access Architecture Based on WDM-direct

(in English) We have been designing optical access architecture towards new-generation networks. In this work, we experimentally demonstrate a 25km-long, WDM-based, single-star-type new-generation optical access system. Our architecture adopts the concept of WDM-direct which links multiple wavelengths to each ONU, and can provide not only conventional bandwidth-shared services in a conventional manner but also bandwidth-guaranteed services by means of end-to-end lightpaths establishment. As a result of experiment, we confirm that the OLT successfully switches between packet/lightpath data transmissions automatically based on signaling information originating from each ONU. Also, we measure and evaluate optical power loss in upstream/downstream transmissions between the OLT and ONUs.
