Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) National Institute of Information and Communications Technology (NICT) conducts the research and development for space laser communications and their related technologies in the future. According to the in-orbit optical communication link experiments between the Optical Inter-orbit Communications Engineering Test Satellite (OICETS) developed by JAXA and the NICT optical ground station, it is needed to make the improvement on the signal fading due to the variation of the received signal through the ground-to-satellite laser communications link. The fine steering mirror which couples the laser beam into a single mode fiber and the realtime Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) decoder based on a Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) were newly developed. The Kirari optical communication demonstration experiment with the NICT optical ground station (KODEN) was conducted again in order to confirm the performance of the manufactured devices. In this paper, the results of KODEN performed from October, 2008 to February, 2009 are presented.
