Two small sub-satellites: OKINA and OUNA have been separated from KAGUYA and injected into lunar orbits to measure gravity fields of the moon. They were designed as spin stabilized satellites without thrusters for orbital and attitude control for the purpose of precise orbital determination and enlightening of masses. Newly developed antennas and release mechanism have been confirmed to have enough performances by ground tests. OKINA, OUNA, and KAGUYA have executed 4-way Doppler measurements and differential VLBI observations, and produced the most precise global gravity maps. |
