A Study on Initial Value Setting Method for Multiple Sound Sources Tracking

(in English) In this paper, we study a method for a fast tracking of two talkers using
a microphone array based on the successive algorithms: the PAST and IPLS algorithms.In a situation many sound sources exist simultaneously,
appropriate initial values for the IPLS algorithm are required after the silent speech section. For this requirement, the rough peak search method of MUSIC spectrum was proposed to set the suitable initial value of the IPLS. However, this method needed a high computational cost to obtain the accuracy initial value. To solve this drawback, we propose a new initial value setting method based on sparseness of speech signals, in which a weighted histogram of sound source localization is estimated by the instantaneous phase difference. This method is able to track sound soures faster than the previous method. Several experimental results in actual room environment are shown to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
