Leaf-Shaped Bowtie Antenna with 5GHz Band Rejection for UWB Applications

(in English) The authors have previously proposed a planar-type UWB antenna consisting of leaf-shaped bowtie radiating elements and a tapered microstrip line. Over the frequency band allocated for UWB radio systems, there are existing bands used by wireless local-area networks (WLAN) operating in 5GHz band. In order to avoid the interference between the UWB and WLAN systems, it is required to develop UWB antennas with a 5GHz band rejection. In this report, we present band-rejected structures for the leaf-shaped bowtie antenna. By connecting band-notched filter consisting of X-shaped strips in shunt with the feeding point of the leaf-shaped bowtie elements, the band-rejected characteristic is realized at 5GHz band while maintaining omni-directional radiation characteristics. In order to demonstrate effective performance of the proposed configuration, fundamental characteristics evaluated by FDTD analysis and measurements are presented.
