An evaluation of the parameters of the generalized Weber's law for small force presentation

(in English) In the precise presentation of force feedback for surgical simulation, it is necessary to reduce the difference between presented force and the actual force to the range less than the detectable level of humans. In the original Weber's law, the ratio of noticeable force difference to the standard force generally becomes a constant value of Weber's fraction. This value, however, may change for small force presentation. While one of the models that take such behavior of small force into consideration is the generalized Weber's law, its parameters have not been evaluated quantitatively.
The purpose of this work is to evaluate the parameters of the generalized Weber's law.
In order to evaluate the parameters, we have carried out a psychophysical assessment using haptic device.
