A 100Mbps, 1.28mW Impulse Radio UWB Receiver with Charge-Domain Sampling Correlator in 0.18um CMOS

(in English) A low power impulse radio ultra-wideband (UWB) receiver for DC-960MHz band is proposed in this paper. The proposed charge-domain sampling correlator based on both capacitance addition and capacitance subtraction can reduce DC power consumption without deteriorating noise performance. Unlike the data synchronization by using the tapped delay-lines or the digital baseband, the proposed sliding scheme enables the data synchronization with simple logic by utilizing the 2-GHz clock for the sampling correlator. The developed receiver fabricated in 1.8V 0.18um CMOS achieves the lowest energy consumption of 12.8pJ/bit at 100Mbps in state-of-the-art correlation-based UWB receivers.
