Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) In Japanese, there are a large number of notational variants of words. In this study, to help document writers who feel overwhelmed by all these variants, we develop dominant variant dictionaries by using newspaper articles and technical documents. First, we investigate notational variants of words in newspaper articles and technical documents. Secondly, we show how to obtain dominant variants credibly by using binomial tests and how to
evaluate the extraction results. Finally, we conduct a control experiment and show the effectiveness of our dominant variant dictionaries.
