Application of self-assembled monolayer to organic light-emitting diodes

(in English) It was found that the use of self-assembled monolayer (SAM), especially fluorinated SAM, CF3(CF2)7(CH2)2Si(OC2H5)3 (F-SAM) enhances the work function of ITO. On the other hand, the use of SAM with a conventional alkyl group lowers it. The organic light-emitting diodes with these SAMs as a hole-injection layer showed the change of operating voltage caused by the difference of the barrier height of hole-injection between hole-injection layer/ITO and a hole-transport layer. Especially, the use of F-SAM could lower the operating voltage at an initial characteristics, enhance the lifetime of OLED, and suppress the increase in driving voltage at a continuous operation.
