Multipath Interference Test Method using Synthesized Frequency Modulated Signal from Directly Modulated DFB-LD with Digital-Signal-Processing Technique
Kazuo Aida (Shizuoka Univ.) OCS2009-23
Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) A method of testing fiber lines and distributed amplifiers is presented; multipath interference (MPI) is detected as a beat spectrum between a multipath signal and a direct signal using a frequency modulated test signal. Test signals with an approximately 300MHz frequency deviation and 1μs transition time at a 40~100kHz modulated frequency are synthesized from a DFB-LD modulated by pulse streams generated by DSP technique with a frequency chirp model. The detailed design and performance of the proposed method are discussed, including the calibration procedure and experiments on single-mode fibers with discrete reflections.
