Scattering of a Plane Wave from the End Face of a Disordered Waveguide System

Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page) 
(in English) A scattering problem of a plane wave from the end face of a disordered
slab waveguide system is formulated by using the electric field and
the volume integral equation obtained is solved by the perturbation
method. The first and second terms of the perturbation series are
analytically derived and the polarization dependence of the scattered
field is discussed. However, the essencial difference of the scattering
properties between TE and TM waves can not be found. The scttering
properties can be almost explained by the Fourier transform of the
phase information of the electric polarization induced in cores by
the incident wave.
