A Study on Various Types of Bi-layered Patch Antennas for Satellite Mobile Communications

(in English) In this paper, we propose 3 types of bi-layered microstrip antenna (MSA). Each radiation pattern of the 3 types are examined analytically by an electromagnetic field simulator. It is shown that the desirable radiation pattern are obtained by 3-type antenna analytically and experimentally. To array the proposed antennas as element antenna, we select one of the antennas which is suitable for beam scanning. Then, using the element antenna, the beam scanning characteristics of a 4-element array antenna are investigated, computationally and experimentally. The antenna gain is measured by considering loss of power divider and 4-bit digital phase shifter which are used for beam scanning. It is found that the proposed antenna is promising for the mobile communications.
