Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) Mobile WiMAX adopts Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) based multiple access scheme. A major drawback in OFDM systems is that transmit signal exhibits a high peak-to-average power (PAPR). By the way,
when a mobile WiMAX system is assumed, it is desirable to employ a simple PAPR reduction technique which does not require any additional signal processing on the receiver side. From a viewpoint of simple implementation and the above requirement, limiter based techniques such as Clipping \& Filtering (C{\&}F) and Peak Windowing (PW) are attractive. The purpose of this paper is to evaluate the PAPR reduction performance of C{\&}F and PW in a mobile WiMAX based OFDM system. In addition, we propose an improved PW method which reduces PAPR by iteratively multiplying a smooth window function. Computer simulation results show that the proposed PW method can achieve almost the same PAPR reduction performance as that of the repeated C{\&}F method, while computational complexity is significantly reduced as compared to case of C{\&}F method.
