Endohedral metallofullerene is expected to operate as single molecular orientation switching by external electric field, since endohedral metallofullerenes have a electric dipole moment due to the exchange of electrons between the encapsulated metal atom and a fullerene cage. To realize molecular orientation switching devices by using endohedral metallofullerene, it needs to clarify the switching mechanism and it is important to figure out the energy levels of endhedral metallofullerene. Here, we have evaluated the HOMO, LUMO levels of Lu@C_{82} on octanethiol self assembled monolayer (SAM) by using scanning tunneling spectroscopy (STS). Comparing this experimental result with theoretical value by density functional theory (DFT) calculation of Lu@C_{82}, we discuss the relationship between sample bias voltage and energy levels of Lu@C_{82} STS measurement. |
