Influence on lower limbs muscle activity pattern by the femoral region muscle contractile velocity in walking

(in English) It is reported that the peak latency which is consumed in reaching the maximum muscular strength in the femoral region has a close relation with drift and fall characteristics in daily movements such as walking, standing up and so on. In the present study, we carried out two experiments: isometric measurements of muscular strength and lower limbs muscle activity pattern measurements in treadmill walking. Relations of peak latency in the femoral region and the muscle activity pattern were investigated. As a result, desirable muscle activity patterns for walking were observed for subjects who had shorter peak latency.
