| (in English) | Since muscular strength training was introduced in the care program for elderly people, it has been getting popular in nursing facilities. Its maximum effects, however, cannot be obtained unless it is carried out under an appropriate intensity, duration and rest. To obtain optimum training conditions for individuals, we have been studying a personal fitting program based on trainee’s biological information. This study focuses on a simple squat exercise in an attempt to clarify an optimum motion rate. We analyzed relations between motion rate and antagonistic muscle activation pattern of lower extremity by means of EMG and lower-extremity motion measurements. Experiments employing 10 volunteers demonstrated that the motion rate affected antagonistic muscle activation pattern of knee joint, but a general modification pattern was not observed. This suggested that other factors such as intensity, duration, personal history of training and duration of warm-up should be analyzed simultaneously. | |
