Considerations (5) on New Generation Network AKARI V-1.1 -- Issues of AKARI Overlay network --

(in English) Up to now, the author has reported the “Network overlay structure” that allows multiple services (applications) to be installed over the NWGN (AKARI) network, and further proposed a method to build AKARI’s overlay network. The author thinks that, if services that do not need the support of an overlay network are installed onto the AKARI network, those services would be burdened, by the costs imposed by using AKARI’s overlay network and the delay of packet transfer. Terminal hand-over control for mobile communication service seems impossible, due to both longer processing time and higher implementation cost. Security guarantees against eavesdropping among services, and so on, seem insufficient. The author proposes that these issues can be resolved by replacing AKARI’s original overlay network with a “network overlay structure”, and thinks that current AKARI network is designed for services that do need overlay networks, and so this design method is against “diversity policy (Diversity: The network must be designed and evaluated based on diverse communication requirements without assuming specific applications or usage trends)” written in AKARI’s design requirements.
