In this paper, we propose a method for rendering rainbows realistically based on atmospheric optical
phenomena. Taking into account wave optics, we can render supernumerary rainbows and rainbows with
different radii of raindrops. In addition, our method displays scattering phenomenon of light and
changes color of rainbows according to the solar elevation. We also consider the distribution of rain
drops. Moreover, we improve the method to be able to consider in-scattering effects. Considering the
in-scattering effects, our method can render the color of sky and rainbows influenced by the sky
color. |
