Extension of Wavelength Range of Wavelength-Selective All-Optical Switch by A Single Optical Control Light

(in English) Wavelength-selective all-optical switching becomes a key technology for realizing high-speed broadband photonic networks. We have studied the switching technology with three-stage connection of interferometers having waveguide-type Raman amplifiers. However, the switch previously reported has a problem to be solved, that is, narrow wavelength range for switching of about 30~nm. In this report, we show that the available wavelength range can be drastically improved to about 400~nm by employing asymmetric X-junction couplers instead of 3-dB couplers. The switch has an advantage in its simpler controllability compared the two-stage architecture reported previously.
