Mean-field theoretical approach to Bayesian estimation of motion velocity vector in successive digital images

(in English) We examine a mean-field iterative aigorithm to estimate motion velocity vector fields in successive digital images based on the Markov random fields model in Bayesian statistcs. We find that mean-field variables in the iteration diverge due to the improper normalization factor of the regularization term appearing in the energy function. To avoid this difficulty, we attempt to rescale the regularization term by introducing a scaling factor and optimizing it by means of minimization of the mean square error and the bit-error rate. It is revealed that the optimal scaling factor is close to the value that minimizes the mean-field approximated marginal likelihood function. From the dynamical behaviour of energy, mean square error rate, we confirm that the optimal scaling factor stabilizes the mean-field iterative process of the motion velocity vector fields estimation.
