In recent radiotherapy, using a particle beam, for example, a dose of radiation can be concentrated within a body of patient. Also, by adjusting energy of the treatment beam with respect to a depth position of a tumor, it is possible to align a high dose portion with the tumor site. In order to take advantage of this characteristic, highly accurate patient registration techniques for irradiating only the tumor site with the particle beam are important. However, 2D/3D registration is difficult to estimate the accurate discrepancy value which is included outside the imaging plane. In this sense, we evaluate an image-based ROI registration method for several feature filters. Furthermore, we propose a feature-based registration method, which we call 3D-SIFT based 2D/3D method. For an adequate estimation about an amount of displacement, we analyze not only on an imaging plane but also outside the imaging plane in advance both of CT data and a DRR image during DRR image generation process, thereby achieving registration of patient in a short time and with high accuracy. |
