Applying the Performance Metric Based on TCP SYN and SYN ACK to Server Load Balancing

(in English) In IP networks, we can evaluate the performance of a server by a metric based on TCP SYN and SYN ACK messages. The metric has an advantage that it is obtained through passive measurement. Thus, the server performance is evaluated non-intrusively. This study applies the performance metric based on TCP SYN and SYN ACK messages to server load balancing. The paper presents the method of calculating the metric. Then, it proposes an algorithm that distribute load among multiple servers according to the metric. The proposed method has been implemented on PC and evaluated experimentally. The effectiveness of the method is shown in comparison with the Linux Virtual Server technique.
