The right-angle light path conversion device having a high coupling efficiency is one of the key technologies for board –level optical interconnection.
We propose a new right-angle light path conversion device fabricated using UV curable resin by the photomask transfer method for optical interconnection. The device has a unique structure characterized by “hybrid comb clad” composed of both resin and air. The use of this device is expected to have a small size and to improve the optical coupling efficiency between optical devices and optical wiring. Fabrication and optical characteristics of the new device were investigated experimentally and theoretically. |
