In-situ observation and control of organic crystal growth under an electric field

(in English) In-situ observation of an electric-field assisted growth of tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) – tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) charge-transfer complex was carried out under a thermal equilibrium condition. We found that the TTF-TCNQ wires grown from an anode side and high electric field area efficiently grew. In addition, the growth rate of these wires was the highest. It was confirmed that the observed phenomena were well explained by the growth model which includes the electric field-induced redistribution of spatial density of TCNQ molecules due to a drift motion of TCNQ-.
