Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This report introduces a 60-GHz wireless experimental system for 60-GHz millimeter-wave single-carrier (SC) systems, and shows an effectiveness of a SC receiver employing decision-directed phase noise compensation (DD-PNC) to alleviate the performance degradation due to the phase noise by the experiment. If a 60-GHz transceiver is implemented by single-chip RF-CMOS IC based on the silicon technology, the relatively large phase noise in phase locked loop (PLL) synthesizers occurs, and severely degrades transmission performances in the multi-level QAM modulation. In order to cope with the phase noise in OFDM and SC with frequency-domain equalization (SC-FDE), the receivers employing DD-PNC have been proposed, and the computer simulations have verified the effectiveness of the receivers. This report presents the 60-GHz wireless experimental system consisting of 60-GHz radio circuit and baseband signal processing circuit, and demonstrates the effectiveness of the SC receiver employing DD-PNC by the experimental system. In an initial process, DD-PNC recursively estimates the phase noise by using the hard decision, and removes the phase noise from the received signal. In an iterative process, DD-PNC estimates the phase noise by using outputs of a decoder in the same way as the initial process, and then performs smoothing the estimates to improve the accuracy of the estimation. Experimental results show that the SC receiver employing DD-PNC with four iterations can achieve PER = $10^{-2}$ at the received SNR = 18.4 dB, when 16QAM with the coding rate of 3/4 is employed and the phase noise level is $-$77 dBc/Hz at 1 MHz offset.
