A Multiple Reader Antenna Method for Position Estimation in Passive RFID Tag system

(in English) Recently, the RFID system is paid attention as an identification source by lot of people. A user identifies an object in which the RFID tag is attached with the unique ID of the RFID tag, and gets appropriate information of the object. One of the examples of applying the RFID technology is the position estimation of RFID tags. It can be very useful to acquire the location information of the RFID tags, because it can be applied to navigation systems and positional detection systems by robot etc. In this paper, we propose a Multiple Reader Antenna Method (MRA method) using the variable directivity of RFID antenna as a new position estimation method. This proposed method can estimate positions of RFID efficiently by moving two antennas and changing the width of the communication range dynamically. We show the effectiveness of the proposed method by computer simulation.
