A prototype of a Video Tablet by using two USB Cameras

(in English) Recently, variaous kinds of writing devices (pen tablets and touch panels) with a pearsonal computer are developed and they are adopted as educational material devices in writing learning system. However, they two main problems as follows. First, the devices cannot support real writing sense when learners write characters on the tablet board. Second, the writing learning system is not practical for personal learners because the devices are expensive. To solve these problems, we propose a prototype of video tablet using two USB cameras because they are cheap. In addition, we use a general pen attached a blue LED as an input device. Experimental results show that the proposed video tablet recognizes handwriting character easily and we examine Korean writing educational material to apply this video tablet.
