About 40\% visually impaired persons are passive to going-out behaviors according to
the investigation of the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare in 2006, Japan. Many
reasons are responsible for it, but particularly we thought that it arose from the
insufficient of self-efficacy for the going-out behavior. In order to encourage the visually
impaired to go out, we have developed “Route selection assistive system (RSA system)”
that supports the decision-making, or self-determination, of the visually impaired, using
the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) and the road database based on the geographic
information system (GIS). The purpose of this technical report is to improve the RSA
system so that the visually impaired can operate it alone. In the current system we
confirmed that the AHP algorithm was correct but the human interface was insufficient.
Therefore, we focused on improving the human interface module. |
