Dual-polarized MSA Using Stubs for Broadband Matching and Capacitive loads

(in English) A dual-polarized microstrip patch antenna (MSA) using matching-stubs to improve its impedance bandwidth and capacitive loads for reduction in size is studied in order to obtain a light weight, uni-directional, and dual-polarized antenna which is able to be put into a chassis of the size of about 0.4$\lambda$×0.5$\lambda$×0.1$\lambda$. First, a structure of the capacitive loads is designed and it is shown that making impedance of the center of the patch conductor high is more advantageous to miniaturization than loading capacitances uniformly at the edges of the patch conductor. Next, the shape and location of the matching-stubs in order to improve impedance bandwidth which is reduced due to miniaturization are studied. It is shown that the cross polarization due to radiation from the current on a feeding-probe can be degraded by locating the shorting conductor of the stub near the feeding-probe. Finally, the validity of the proposed antenna is confirmed experimentally.
