Propagation of the PLC signal current along a power line is analyzed in two independent modes. From this analysis, a set of fundamental equations and an equivalent circuit model are derived for the common- and differential-mode currents. It is found that the common-mode disturbance current is generated by a PLT modem itself as well as the differential-to-common-mode conversion caused by not only a connected load but also a PLC modem. Multiple reflections at both the load and the modem are found to make an important contribution in generating the common-mode current. |
