An ultrasonic air pump utilizing acoustic streaming is discussed and its accurate simulation method using finite element analysis (FEA) is suggested in this paper. The pump induces air streaming in a thin air layer between a bending transducer and a reflector by exciting an intense sound field. The absolute sound pressure and the streaming velocity in the air layer is calculated being based on full-fluid dynamics through FEA, and the results are compared with experimental ones in the sound pressure and the flow velocity. As a result, the sound pressure was calculated in the derivation of the error of 5.9 %, and the measurement and analysis results for the streaming distribution meet in a good accuracy. |
