Development of Signal Processing for Shipborne Solid State Radars

(in English) Shipborne radars are increasingly relied on for safety navigation of vessels; thereby the radars with a solid state transmitter instead of a short-lived magnetron are strongly required. Such radars with the solid state transmitter enable signal processing based on the phase information, because of their stable transmission. We have developed the signal processing for the solid state radars including pulse compression and Doppler processing based on the phase information. The pulse compression strengthens the radar sensitivity to match the existing magnetron radars. The Doppler processing separates the target and the clutter signals into different Doppler banks if the target has a nonzero radial velocity relative to the clutter, consequently suppressing the clutter amplitude by 10 dB.
