In modern mobile communication systems, linear digital modulation techniques are generally employed, which generate carrier signals with relatively high peak to average power ratio. Drain Voltage Control (DVC) is one of the fundamental methods for achieving a highly efficient amplifying of such transmission signals. In this report, the experimentally constructed 2-GHz band power amplifier using DVC is measured. Characteristics of efficiency and Error Vector Magnitude (EVM) on tracking bandwidth of the DVC amplifier using W-CDMA are shown. The results show that efficiency and EVM of DVC is not affected by tracking bandwidth of baseband signal. |
