Recently, rate-compatible (RC) LDPC codes are attractive research topics on complexity-constrained systems that need variations of error correction performance. We have studied rate estimation schemes for rate-compatible quasi-cyclic (QC) LDPC codes. They enable good estimation of code rates used at the transmitter without additional information about code rates. However, QC-LDPC codes are unsuitable for flexible systems because it is difficult to achieve decoding performance appropriate to each code rate. This paper proposes a rate estimation scheme for rate-compatible punctured LDPC codes which can achieve required performance and generate various code rates. Simulation results show suitable parameters of puncturing pattern, evaluation value and iteration number for the rate estimation. It is obtained that good performance of the proposed scheme can be achieved compared to conventional schemes. |
