Abstract (in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
(in English) This report proposes a combination of Selected Mapping (SLM) and Clipping-and-Filtering (CF) for eigenmode (EM) MIMO-OFDM mobile communications; SLM selects a phase pattern to minimize nonlinear distortion by transmit power amplifier (PA) whereas CF surpresses out-of-band power spectrum radiation. In the EM MIMO-OFDM system, a transmitter performs linear precoding using channel state information (CSI) and thus excellent transmission performance can be achieved. However, the transmitted signal suffers from high peak to average power ratio (PAPR) as OFDM characteristics. To reduce such PAPR, EM transmission SLM (EM-SLM) has already been proposed, which is the enhancement of SLM known as a PAPR reduction method for OFDM without any performance degradation. When EM-SLM is applied to OFDM with a large number of subcarriers, however, EM-SLM with a limited number of phase patterns cannot achieve low PAPR. To cope with such a problem, this report proposes the combination of EM-SLM and CF known as a PAPR reduction method for OFDM. To operate PA with low back-off, CF reduces the peak power of transmitted signals and sufficiently surpresses out-of-band radiation by PA. Furthermore, a phase pattern controller for SLM selects a phase pattern under a criterion to minimize distortion by CF rather than that to minimize PAPR. Computer simulations demonstrate that the proposed method can alleviate performance degradation by nonlinear distortion due to both CF and PA while sufficiently suppressing the out-of-band radiation, in the case of $4\times 4$ EM MIMO-OFDM with the number of subcarriers being 1024.
