The demand for RFID tags that can be read by both HF and UHF RFID systems has been rapidly increasing. The authors have been proposed a UHF monopole antenna configuration that utilizes an HF coil conductor positively as a ground conductor. It has been shown that high radiation efficiency has been obtained by the proposed antenna configuration if the coil dimensions have been chosen appropriately. The main purpose of this paper is to suppress the dependence of the radiation efficiency on the coil dimensions. It is shown that the dependency of the radiation efficiency on the coil parameters can be greatly reduced and higher radiation efficiency can be achieved over the entire UHF-RFID band, when the coil windings are capacitively coupled at least around the UHF feed point. |
