The recently developed compressed sensing theory enables signal recovery from incomplete information with high probability provided that the signal is sparsely represented in some basis. It has also been proved that the random linear projection of an N-dimensional signal vector onto a K-dimensional (K<<N) vector transfers enough information for signal reconstruction. This paper proposes the combined Nyquist and compressed sampling method to implement the compressed sensing theory in wireless multiband receivers. Decoding signals are sampled at the Nyquist rate while sensing signals are sampled at the compressed rate. For this purpose, the decoding signals and the sensing signals are converted into the lower and higher baseband frequencies, respectively. Nyquist sampling and compressed sampling are concurrently performed by a single ADC. First, low rate Nyquist sampling is conducted. Second, inner samples from the previous samples are randomly selected for compressed sensing. This method reduces the sampling burden in dealing with the sensing signals while guaranteeing the realization of Nyquist-rate decoding performance. |
