Performance Comparison of MLD and MMSE-based Linear Filtering Assuming Spreading Code Sequences Appropriate for MLD in MC-CDMA

(in English) This paper investigates the performance comparison between the maximum likelihood detection (MLD) and minimum mean squared error (MMSE)-based equalization for the multicarrier code division multiple access (MC-CDMA) assuming the proposed spreading code sequences appropriate for MLD. We evaluate the bit error rate (BER) for various spreading factors and channel coding rates. From the simulation results, we demonstrate that the combination of the proposed spreading code, especially the rotational Walsh code, and MLD is effective in reducing the BER, when the spreading factor is relatively small and the channel coding is not applied. In these cases, the proposed code can reduce the BER largely compared to the combination of the conventional spreading code and MLD, or MMSE-based equalization. This may imply that the proposed spreading code is useful for the application to the control channel which uses small spreading factor and no channel coding.
