A wireless multimedia sensor network (WMSN) is a kind of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) that handles multimedia data.In WMSNs,energy consumption and QoS are primary concerns.However,QoS has not been studied enough in conventional WSNs.Therefore,we suggest the hybrid model of a MAC protocol that considers both power consumption and QoS.Our proposal employs different communication methods for multimedia packets and non-multimedia packets to realize power-saving.In addition, we use a priority control based on backoff time to realize QoS.Our method realizes energy efficient communication and good responsiveness in WMSNs. |
