(in English) Millimeter waves have been introduced to applications in daily lives. It is necessary to establish the safety of exposure to millimeter waves.
This paper describes the development of an in vitro exposure system for 60 GHz millimeter waves, exposure assessment for the equipment, and preliminary result of in vitro experiment on the effect on the proliferation rate of CHO-K1 cells.
The exposure system consists of gunn diode with impatt amplifier and conical horn antenna. The cells are exposed in a petri dish at a certain distance from the aperture of the antenna. The exposure conditions are investigated by means of numerical calculation with FDTD method and experimental measurement using thermal camera. The preliminary result suggests that millimeter wave exposure can cause changes in the proliferation rate presumably due to thermal effect.
